DBL Logistics Directors
Bert started the business with wife Linda Clarkson in the 1980s, distributing white goods and parcels to private houses across Yorkshire.
His son David joined the business to complete the initials DBL, as the company became an independent operation after moving into palletised freight deliveries.
Bert became operations director in 1998 and continues in that role today, playing an integral role in the development of DBL Logistics and the company's relocation to the Huntsman depot on Tinsley Park Road, Sheffield.
David took over from his father Bert as Managing Director in 1998, by which time he had almost two decades of experience within the logistics industry.
He helped establish DBL Logistics as a leading depot within the United Pallet Network (UPN), before becoming a key member of the Pall-Ex network. Leading the team to national success, culminating in being awarded in Sales Depot of the Year and Depot's Depot of the Year at the UPN Annual Member Awards in 2013, and New Depot of the Year 2018 at the Annual Pall-Ex awards.
Along with his father, David spearheaded the creation of the company's first independently owned building with the Huntsman Depot.
Adam joined us in January 2017 after serving in the Army's Royal Logistics Corps from 2007-2012, spending six months in Afghanistan during 2009.
Following his service with the armed forces, Adam joined Stenhoff UK, receiving three promotions in three years to progress to the role of Transport Manager. He the moved to DBL, and since joining has progressed in his role with us too - making the step up from Operations, Transport and Health & Safety Manager to Operations Director in January 2018.
Adam has played an integral role in our development with the Pall-Ex network, culminating in DBL being awarded New Depot of the Year at the 2018 Annual Pall-Ex Awards.
Traffic Team
Nigel swapped the cab for a computer when he joined our traffic team in 2020 after being on the road for us since 2018.
With almost 20 years’ experience working within the haulage industry, and as a traffic planner previously, Nigel brings a wealth of valuable knowledge in logistics that has seen both sides of the job – on the road and off it.
Nigel works with our drivers, other depots, our customers, and his colleagues to ensure collection and delivery times are met every day, as well as ensuring our fleet is safe whilst on the road.
Nigel has been an excellent addition to the office team during a big part in the company’s history, with the COVID-19 crisis and a major investment in our fleet.
Jonny started in his role in 2018 and has immediately established himself as an integral part of the transport team. Jonny ensures we meet collection and delivery times by working with drivers to plan their routes and handle any issues they have through the day.
Jonny also deals with customer queries on deliveries and collections, working with his colleagues to ensure an efficient process is in place with the traffic team.
With years of experience in the logistics industry, Jonny has proved to be an excellent addition to our dedicated team. He has no doubt played a significant role in our successes in the Pallex network.
Customer Services
Cheryl is one of our longest serving members of staff, with experience in almost all sectors of the company. Working with Pauline in customer services, Cheryl deals with customer's problems, working to find a resolve that suits all parties.
Cheryl also handles customer's paperwork, ensuring that all goods are sent with your documents enclosed on the consignment, as well as chasing PODs for you should there be any discrepancies on the uploaded paperwork once a delivery has been made.
With so much experience at DBL logistics, Cheryl is an invaluable member of the team, able to find solutions to the most difficult of problems.
Accounts & Finance
Paula is AAT qualified and, over the last 30 years, has built up a solid financial background. Having initially joined the DBL finance team in 2013 for 4 years, Paula returned in a part-time role in 2018 to take over the main responsibility for customer invoicing and queries, bank reconciliations and payroll as well as assisting with all other aspects of the finance office.
Her experience in accounts and finance makes her an invaluable member of our team. Able to deal with any issues rasied during the invoicing period.
Daisy joined us in 2015 as an apprentice Junior Accounts Assistant and successfully completed her apprenticeship programme, even being nominated for the North Midlands and South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2017 in the process. Having completed her AAT in 2018, Daisy now has full MAAT status.
Being our full time member of the finance team, Daisy takes on responsibility for the day to day aspects of the finance office whilst focusing on supplier invoicing and queries, banking and payments.
Sales & Marketing
Chris joined us in 2018 as an apprentice in Business and Admin. After successfully completing his apprenticeship and gaining a full time position in Sales and Marketing, Chris now manages DBL Logistics' online profile.
He manages our social media platforms, produces content for our blog, and designs pieces for online and printed distribution.
Chris also manages the structure and content of our website, maintains on-site SEO, and helps in the traffic office when necessary.
Warehouse
Andrew joined us in 2019 with over a decade of experience in all aspects of the warehouse operation, from warehouse operative to operating manager. Andrew manages his team in their daily duties, pushing for the very best warehouse service possible so we are able to confidently offer our customers a state-of-the-art pick and pack & storage solutions.
When Andrew started, he immediately began work on implementing his blueprint to make DBL Logistics' warehouse operation as efficient and reliable as possible. He liases with his staff, the traffic team, and customers to ensure everything is running as smoothly as possible.
Harry joined us in 2015 as an apprentice. After succesfully completing his apprenticeship, and later proving his ability to run the warehouse operation, Harry was promoted to Warehouse Supervisor.
In his role, Harry is responsible for scanning vehicles, checking freight for quality issues, and processing customer's orders to ensure they're picked correctly.
Harry has proved himself as a highly valuable member of the warehouse team, and an integral part of the warehouse operation.
Dean is one of our longest serving members of staff. Joining us in 2014, Dean is responsible for the storage and distribution of ground flat and silver steel to the UK and Europe.
Dean's experience with the company makes him a highly valued member of staff, who has a deep knowledge of the company and the industry as a whole.
Working with the traffic office, customers, and his colleagues, Dean ensures orders are placed according to customers requests and are dispatched to the request of customers.
