DBL Logistics start inaugural season as Sharks’ naming rights sponsor

The Sheffield Sharks get their season underway tonight against the Leicester Riders – the Club’s first competitive game since its rebrand as the DBL Sharks Sheffield.

The Sheffield Sharks became the DBL Sharks earlier this year in a three-year deal, building on the side’s incredible Molten BBL Play-Off final win over the Riders at London’s O2 Arena, their first Play-Off triumph since 2003/04.

Up first this season is a repeat of the final game of last season – with the Sharks and the Riders locking horns to kick off the new league campaign.

Sharks captain Mike Tuck, who is now into his eighth season with the Club, said: “I think we’re going to be a very competitive side this season, I’m very excited about how the team’s coming together,” said Tuck.

“Winning the final was a huge achievement for us, both for me personally and for the club. We’ve got a tall, physical team and I can’t wait for the first game.”

Head coach Atiba Lyons added: “Going into this new season we’ve got a little more size and a little more depth in the forward positions.

“It works in my favour because the league’s a little bit bigger this season than it has been in the past. Hopefully we match it well.

“It’s just about us gelling, working hard, and trying to create that ethos for the season. Practice has been good so far and I think we’re getting ready.”

Our sales director, Earl Robinson, has also expressed his excitement ahead of the new season.

He said: “I can’t wait for the season to start. It’s a real buzz, seeing our name up on the Sheffield Sharks badge and across all their branding.

“This is a fantastic club to be a part of. There’s a real family-feel to it, and I think the new signings that have come in will get a sense of this in the coming weeks and months, if they haven’t already.

“We’re overwhelmingly proud to be naming rights sponsors and we’re hoping the DBL Sharks Sheffield can win more silverware during 2016/17 after their magnificent Molten BBL Play-Off final win last season.”
