David sleeps rough to support city youth homelessness charity

We’ve become the first business to sign up to support a local youth homelessness charity’s annual sleep out event.
David Clarkson, our managing director, will take part in Roundabout Sheffield’s 2017 Sleep Out at 92 Burton Road, home to the city’s famous Peddler Night Market, on 24 November.
Roundabout Sheffield, which is this year marking 40 years of helping young homeless people across Sheffield, is a long-standing beneficiary of fundraising efforts by DBL.
A number of our team, including sales director Earl Robinson as well as MD David, have raised thousands of pounds for the charity over the course of a partnership spanning several years.
Roundabout Sheffield supports 150 young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Sheffield each day, and in November 2017 will hold its biggest sleep out to date
This year’s event will feature games, food and entertainment, before the real challenge begins at midnight as participants begin a night of sleeping rough.
David said: “We’re proud to support Roundabout and are really looking forward to this year’s Sleep Out event.
“We’re very pleased to have supported the charity for a number of years, raising thousands of pounds for a fantastic cause, so we were only too happy to sign up to join in again.
“Without the exemplary work of charities such as Roundabout, homelessness in Sheffield would be a far greater problem, so we always want to do our bit to support a fantastic local charity.”
Caitlin Hodgkinson, fundraising and communications co-ordinator at Roundabout Sheffield, said: “We’re extremely pleased to again have the support of David and the team at DBL for our annual Sleep Out event – we were thrilled when they became the first business to sign up for this year’s event.
“Support such as that from businesses like DBL Logistics goes a long way to helping us as a charity – we’re extremely grateful.
“While an event like this can’t possibly replicate the conditions faced by those who are lonely, frightened and homeless, it will go some way to raise awareness and much-needed funds for us to continue to help those who sleep rough every night.” To donate to David Clarkson’s JustGiving page in aid of Roundabout Sheffield, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/dbl-logistics-david-sleepout, and for more information on Roundabout Sheffield visit www.roundabouthomeless.org.
