Sam ‘The Sensation’ to fight for English Title in 2017
Thursday, 17th August 2017

We’re extremely excited that our sponsored professional boxer, Sam ‘The Sensation’ O’Maison will be fighting for the English light welterweight title later this year.

The Waverley-based light welterweight is looking to respond after an unfortunate defeat against Luca Giacon in his IBF International Super Lightweight Title in Malaga earlier this month.

Sam showed his class in Spain and gave an extremely good account of himself, landing some impressive shots, but got caught flush by a ‘lucky’ shot from the big-hitting champion in the sixth round and went down for TKO – just the second defeat of his professional career.

Naturally, we’re right behind Sam and, along with his coach, Ryan Rhodes, we fully believe that his time will still come, starting with a shot at the English title in October or November this year.

Our managing director, David Clarkson, said: “It’s great to see that Sam is looking to bounce straight back from an agonising defeat to challenge for the English title.

“He asserted himself well against a difficult opponent in Malaga and was extremely impressive – he was desperately unlucky not to have taken it the distance.

“But that’s boxing for you – and we’re extremely proud of the way Sam has come back from the defeat. That’s what true champions are made of. We’re sure that Sam’s time will definitely come soon – starting with the English title later this year.”
