Earl’s leap of faith for local children’s hospice

Our sales director will be taking a leap of faith later this year when he tackles a 15,000ft skydive to support a local children’s hospice.

Earl Robinson, 52, a director at our Tinsley Park Road-based headquarters, has been inspired to tackle his fear of heights head-on and take part in the sponsored skydive for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, one of our charity partners.

Earl will follow in the footsteps of managing director David Clarkson, who himself completed a skydive for Bluebell Wood in 2015.

Earl, who is aiming to raise £5,000 from his extreme challenge, said: “My recent visit to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice really opened my eyes to the wonderful work that the charity does on a daily basis.

“Although I’m scared to death by the thought of doing a skydive, if ever there was a cause I’d jump out of a plane for, it’d be Bluebell Wood. The charity does so much to support so many people and I saw this as a great opportunity for me to give something back.

“Taking on a skydive is going to be a challenge as I’m not too keen on heights, but I hope to raise more than £5,000 by doing this. I hope that can go some way to helping such a worthy cause.”

Jo Berry, events fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the lengths that Earl is going to for our charity.

"Fundraising from businesses and individuals makes a vital difference to our charity.

“We offer care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at our North Anston-based hospice. To provide the region with our services, it can cost us upwards of £3million per year, so any funds raised through sponsored challenges such as the one Earl is taking on is crucial to us.

“We’d like to thank Earl and DBL Logistics for what he’s doing for our charity, and wish him all the best for his skydive!”
