Founder and Operations Director
Bert started the business with wife Linda Clarkson in the 1980s, distributing white goods and parcels to private houses across Yorkshire.
His son David joined the business to complete the initials DBL, as the company became an independent operation after moving into palletised freight deliveries.
Bert became operations director in 1998 and continues in that role today, playing an integral role in the development of DBL Logistics and the company’s relocation to the Huntsman Depot on Tinsley Park Road, Sheffield.
David took over from his father Bert as Managing Director in 1998, by which time he had almost two decades of experience within the logistics industry.
He has helped establish DBL Logistics as a leading depot within the United Pallet Network (UPN), and has led the team to national success, culminating in being awarded Sales Depot of the Year and Depots’ Depot of the Year at the UPN Annual Member Awards in 2013.
Along with his father, David spearheaded the creation of the company’s first independently owned building with the Huntsman Depot.
As well as his role with DBL Logistics, David is non-executive director of UPN and has also been selected to become the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce’s Transport Forum representative on the new Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Logistics Group.
Earl joined DBL Logistics in 2007 as Sales and Marketing Manager, becoming Sales Director in 2012.
He has played an instrumental role in growing DBL Logistics' sales with key clients across the Sheffield City Region through a holistic approach to customer service.
Earl is a key member of the company’s management team and is responsible for the overall brand and public profile of the business.
Earl’s work enabled DBL Logistics to achieve a new UPN daily volume record, when the company inputted 634 pallets into the network in a single evening during February 2013. This almost doubled the previous record, originally set in 2010.
Lee began his time with DBL Logistics in April 2016, taking his first step in the world of logistics. Previously, Lee worked in catering and hospitality for 30 years where he gained experience in customer relations, sales and management.
Based in the traffic office, Lee works directly with customers, depots and colleagues to ensure an efficient process from initial delivery input right through to invoicing.
Carola joined DBL Logistics in March 2008 as Accounts Assistant, having worked in finance for more than 30 years, gaining valuable experience in varying sectors such as banking, education and logistics.
Having shown a high-level of expertise, Carola was quickly promoted to Finance Manager and now has overall responsibility for all financial transactions at DBL Logistics, including payroll, and HR duties.
Operations and Transport Manager
The newest recruit to our team, Adam joined us in January 2017. Adam served in the Army’s Royal Logistics Corps from 2007-2012 and spent six months in Afghanistan during 2009.
Adding to his impressive background, Adam received three promotions in three years at Steinhoff UK where he became Transport Manager before moving to DBL.
Traffic Planning Manager
Before joining the company as Traffic Planning Manager in 2016, Paul worked in transport management for two years.
Paul is the first port of call for all transport planning requirements and manages all interactions between the company, valued customers and the UPN network service providers.
Yard and Night Manager
Luke worked in the steel industry before joining DBL in 2016 where he worked for more than 12 years. Luke worked his way up from a young apprentice, to HGV driver, to Warehouse Manager.
Coming from the steel industry, Luke transfers his experience of working in a fast-paced environment and people management skills to DBL Logistics.
After working in the steel industry for 16 years, which involved visiting customers’ premises around the world, Dave moved into the manufacturing industry of machine blades and knives, and the sales of the same products around the North of England.
In 2001 Dave joined DBL Logistics as a Warehouse Operative, before progressing into management of the warehouse.
Customer Service Manager
Pauline joined us in 2015 from Aviva, where she worked in various customer service roles.
Pauline is the first port of call for all customer enquiries and manages all interactions between DBL Logistics, our valued customers and the UPN network service providers.
